The maiden edition of Channels Track and Field Classics, a competition for boys and girls in secondary school under the age of 17, took off at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Sunday morning.

Participants are competing in the following events: 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 4 X 100 metres relay, 4 X 400 metres relay, 400 metres hurdle, 800 metres and long jump.

9:00 am: Students from some schools are already at the venue for the event with more still showing up.


10: 14 am: Registration of athletes ongoing


10: 19 am: Athletes are getting on the tracks for the first event – the 100m girls’ heats



10: 28 am: The athletes are ready to go
