The Nigerian Army says it has arrested a suspected female suicide bomber who attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, the Army disclosed that the suspect planned to detonate the suicide vest and inflict maximum casualty on innocent people in the area.
It said she was promptly intercepted and arrested by Troops of 251 Task Force Battalion, Maiduguri.
Upon interrogation, the suspect identified herself as Shaidatu Adamu,19, from Gwoza in Borno.
According to the Army, she was sent on a lone mission and she confessed to being in the Sambisa Forest for about three years.
Troops attached to 47 Explosive Ordinance Device Battalion were consequently invited to defuse the explosives.
The suspect was thereafter transferred to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade, Maiduguri for further investigations.
