The Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, has described the conduct of the by-election in Kwara State as peaceful.

Mohammed said this on Saturday after casting his vote at ward PU 006 Oro.

He said that he was impressed as there wasn’t any report of violence in the state.

“The voting was peaceful, you can see that there was no violence. Everybody is going about their businesses and there is no attempt to coerce anybody at the polling units,” he said.

Prior to the minister casting his vote, accreditation and voting went well at Oke Ero/Irepodun/Isin and Ekiti Federal Constituency.

The turnout of voters in Oro town was also impressive as the residents of the area lined up peacefully to cast their votes.

Channels Television observed that card readers functioned well at an average of three minutes per voter.

The situation was also the same at Ajasse ward One in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

Voters expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the materials arrived early.

In all the four local governments where the bye-election took place, 125,964 voters were accredited for the exercise in 330 polling units.

The bye-election comes after the death of the member of the House of Representatives, Funke Adedoyin in the state

Adedoyin died on September 28 at the age of 54, while the National Assembly was on a break.

she was a former Minister of State for Health and also served as the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army till she died.
