Some chapter executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former APC local government executives declared their position at a rally held at the Ibom Hall grounds in Uyo, the state capital.
They were party members who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the recent primaries of the APC in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former APC chieftain in the state, Mr Johnson Amah, stressed that they were convinced that their interest would be better protected in the PDP
Receiving the defectors into the party, the state Chairman of PDP, Paul Ekpo, promised to fully integrate them into the mainstream of the party.
On his part, Governor Udom Emmanuel described the development as a sign of good fortunes for the PDP in the state.
