Speaking at the ceremony which held on Thursday, President Buhari said that the new terminal is “yet another significant milestone for international air travelers in and out of the Federal Capital Territory”.

Buhari commended the minister of aviation, saying that “with the commissioning of this terminal Nigeria is moving closer to achieving and meeting global standards in the facilitation, passenger processing, and service delivery in line with international best practices”.

Other dignitaries present at the inauguration include the Senate President who was represented, members of the National Assembly,  Secretary General of the Federation, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria.

The project comes, as a result, a 500 million dollar loan with an additional 100 million dollar counterpart fund.

From the speeches made, the terminal is one of the biggest in West Africa, with some areas that are about the size of five football pitches.

Officials say there will be 66 checking counters, 28 immigration desks at arrival and 16 at the departure end.
