Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has condemned the dissolution of the State Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by the National Working Committee (NWC).

He faulted the decision of the APC national leadership at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

Governor Okorocha, who has recently criticised the APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, accused the former governor of embarking on a “failed mission”.

He stressed that there was already a court injunction restraining the party’s NWC from suspending, dissolving, or tampering with the existing structure of the APC led by Daniel Nwafor in the state.

He, therefore, advised the national leadership of the party to rescind on its decision to dissolve the State Working Committee.

According to the chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, any decision contrary to the court judgment will definitely not portray the party in good light.

He reiterated his position that President Muhammadu Buhari would win his re-election in the general polls in 2019.

The governor, however, said he cannot guarantee the success of the APC governorship candidate in his state.

The chairman of the state committee, Nwafor, also condemned the decision of the NWC while addressing reporters on Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Owerri.

He also described the inauguration of a caretaker committee by Mr Oshiomhole as illegality and a breach of court which he said cannot stand.

Nwafor insisted that the State Working Committee of APC under his leadership was intact and remained the legitimate executive until a court of competent jurisdiction stated otherwise.

He also stressed the order of a Federal High Court in Abuja restraining APC NWC from dissolving the existing party structure in the state.

The state chairman said the Imo party executive would not be distracted by anyone.

According to him, they are busy with the duties of ensuring the success of President Buhari and other party candidates in the forthcoming elections.
