The police have raided the Abuja residence of the Senator representing Kogi West constituency, Dino Melaye.

The police on arrival barred journalists from going near the building, claiming that the Senator barricaded himself in an area of his residence in a bid to prevent his arrest.

Although the grounds for the ongoing siege is yet unknown the personal security aide to the Senator has been apprehended as of now inside the complex.

In a series of tweets on Friday, the Senator claimed that his residence was under siege by the police.

“All entrances to my residence in Mississippi have been secured by the police that claims there is no order to arrest me.

“One truck by centagon school too. Media and Nigerians take note. We have pictures of those involved.

“They have just zoomed off the trucks leaving three men at the different end of my street wearing black.

“Two trucks with people wearing black in front on centagon school on Mississippi maitama. Toyota Siena at the entrance of Sangha street, gold colour Honda accord roaming the street.

“A man in jallabia have gone forth and back my street more than 10 times.

“Two hilux truck have now blocked my gate with men in mufti numbering 20.

“Cameras recording. They are trying to plant guns in the cars outside. We are watching”.

However, the younger brother of the Senator Moses Melaye, explaining the situation said, the surveillance team of the Nigerian Police Force came to the area with some of their men in uniform and in mufti.

“This morning the surveillance team of the Nigerian Polie Force came in two hilux and laid surveillance on the street, at some point, they start increasing in their numbers.

“The policemen had a discussion with the security man on duty, later they beat him up handcuffed him and in their hilux”.

Mr Melaye emphasised that the policemen have taken over the compound of the Senator, thereby locking everyone outside.
