Journalists Shot, MC Oluomo Stabbed At Lagos APC Rally

Journalists and an official of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) were injured on Tuesday at the opening of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship rally in Lagos.

The police confirmed that the NURTW chieftain, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo was stabbed during the rally and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Some journalists were also hit by stray bullets at the rally.

Violence broke out at the rally after suspected thugs had a face-off which led to the fracas and a shootout.

The rampaging thugs were said to have freely used deadly weapons such as guns, knives, cutlasses, and charms to disrupt the rally.

Journalists hit by stray bullet at the violent rally include a reporter from The Nation newspaper, another reporter from New Telegraph and a cameraman from a Television station.

The rally, which was held in Ikeja, is Babajide Sanwoolu’s first open-air campaign as he seeks votes ahead of Lagos Governorship election scheduled to hold in March.
