A former governor of Jigawa State, Dr Sule Lamido, has condemned the postponement of the general elections.
Dr Lamido faulted the shift during an interview on Saturday, hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the announcement.
He raised concern about the postponement, especially as electoral materials were exposed and not under the custody of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in some parts of the country.
“The consequence is that now that they have distributed sensitive materials, where are they going to keep them?” the former governor questioned.
He added, “So it’s not about who wins; it’s about Nigeria first and for now, Nigeria is lost out and this is very sad.”

APC Chieftain Reacts
Elsewhere, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Faruk Adamu, criticised the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, for postponing the elections.
He called on the INEC boss to resign his position, saying the postponement of the polls has confirmed his alleged incapacity to conduct the elections.
Mr Adamu said, “I want us to look beyond politics; as a nation, INEC has not treated us well.
“We couldn’t have deceived ourselves; Mr president couldn’t have gone to Daura and ready to vote.”
The APC chieftain added, “We as Nigerians must hold INEC responsible and if I were this professor, I would have resigned… so, I think Professor Mahmood should honorably resign”.
