Elections: EU Observers To Present Initial Assessment On Monday

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ondo State has declared the Ondo South Senatorial District election inconclusive over allegations of irregularities.

The INEC Returning officer for Ondo South, Professor Kayode Onifade, on Monday in Okitipupa announced that Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 79,029 votes, while his closest rival, the current Senator, Mr. Yele Omogunwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 51,993 votes at the Saturday’s National Assembly elections.

Professor Onifade also said, there is an outstanding of 28,047 votes.

Pointing out that the number of canceled votes is higher than 27,036 which is the margin between the two leading parties, the REC declared the election inconclusive.

Further directives on the election are expected from the INEC soon.
