A legal practitioner, Monday Ubani, has asked the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his electoral promises to Nigerians.

He also called on those aggrieved by the outcome of the elections to go to court.

He stated this on Thursday when he made an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, a day after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Buhari the winner of the 2019 presidential election.

“Now that the elections have been lost and won, those who want to go to court should go to court. Then the person who has won should now continue to ensure that Nigeria moves in accordance with his promises to Nigeria,” he said.

Ubani, who is a former ex-Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) also commended the masses for coming out in large numbers to vote.

He also commended Atiku for appealing to his supporters to embrace peace, stressing that it was crucial for the survival of Nigeria.

“I think the key two actors – the President himself and Atiku Abubakar have appealed to his followers to maintain peace and that to me is critical.

“The President in his acceptance speech extended his hands of fellowship to his opponents, let’s move Nigeria forward. Now we need to really accentuate these statements of these leaders,” he added.

President Buhari polled a total of 15,191,847 to defeat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku, who polled 11,262,978.
