General Yakubu Gowon was among those who visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the State House.
At his visit, Gowon told the President that Nigeria needs peace without which the country cannot develop.
The former military leader shared some of the ideas he employed during his tenure to ensure food security and even help other countries.

He wished the present administration Goodluck while asking that the President deliver on the promises he made to Nigerians.
Others who visited the President today were, Governors Willie Obiano and Nasir El-Rufai. The President also had an audience with the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
