NCAA Revokes Pilot’s Licence
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the licence of an airline pilot for serious violation of the Nigeria civil aviation regulations.
According to a statement by the NCAA’s spokesperson, Sam Adurogboye, the penalty is a consequence of the pilot operating flights after the expiration of his medical certificate.
Although the statement did not mention the name of the pilot, it says its investigations revealed that instead of the pilot re-validating his medical certificate, he conducted flight operations as the pilot-in-command.
This violates a section of the Nigeria civil aviation regulations, which stipulates that, “a flight crew member or air traffic controller shall not exercise the privileges of his/her licence unless he/she holds a current medical certificate appropriate to the licence”.
The pilot has been directed to return the invalidated airline transport pilots
licence to the appropriate authority within seven days of receipt of the sanction letter.
The NCAA insists that violations of the Nigeria civil aviation regulations are taken very seriously and the body will continue to monitor strict compliance with its rules.
