The eight-member committee constituted by the National Human Rights Commission to investigate allegations of human rights violations and abuse of office against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad has submitted its report to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The President accepted the report and recommendations after a closed-door meeting held at the State House in Abuja.

Some of the key recommendations of the panel include the establishment of State and Local Government Police, significant improvement in the funding, kitting and facilities of the Nigeria Police Force; strengthening the Police Rapid Response Compliant Unit, ensuring the anti-robbery section limits itself to tackling armed robbery.
The President, thereafter, noted that the recommendations of the Commission that constituted the panel are enforceable as decisions of the court.
He also asked the Inspector General of Police and the Solicitor General of the Federation/Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice to meet with the Commission to work out the modalities for the implementation of the report within three months from today.
