Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has dissolved all political office holders of their appointments with effect from Wednesday, May 29, 2019.

They include all Commissioners, the Secretary to the State Government, Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers, Special Assistants and State Development Area Administrators who served under the Mohammed Jibrilla led administration.

Governor Fintiri made this known during his maiden broadcast on the state of affairs in Yola the Adamawa state capital. He said these steps have become necessary in order for his administration to bring the state back to the path of sanity, transparency, probity, accountability and rapid development.

The governor also announced the dissolution of all Chairmen and members of Boards, parastatals and Commissions in the state.

All the chairmen and members of boards, parastatals and commission in the state are hereby dissolved; the outgoing chairmen and members should hand over the organisations property in their possession to the most senior civil servant in their establishment.

Similarly, all appointments into the state Judicial Service Commission, Planning Commission and Board of the Adamawa state Health Insurance Scheme and members of the Jimeta Modern Market Board were suspended.

The under-listed officials are hereby suspended from office pending the receipt of inquiry into their respective organisation; they are the General Manager, Adamawa State Water Board, General Manager, Adamawa State Urban Planning Development Authority, General Manager, Adamawa State Transport Company and Executive Secretary Post-Primary School Management Board.

Also, members of Governing Boards of tertiary institutions were not spared, however, he promised the reconstitution of a committee to review the exercise.

Chairmen and members of governing boards at Adamawa state tertiary institutions are hereby similarly dissolved with effect from Wednesday 29 May 2019. The boards will be reorganised in accordance with the extant laws and where necessary, be reviewed by the Adamawa state assembly.

He added that a bill for a stringent law to provide for stiffer penalties for kidnappers, abductors, armed robbers and their collaborators will be forwarded to the state Assembly as soon as it convenes.

Fintiri warned that it will not be business as usual and all government officials must sit up and be diligent, accountable and transparent in handling public affairs.

The foregoing directives are with effect from Wednesday, May 29, 2019, is just the beginning, as this administration settles down, it will give our citizens a new lease of life, based on respect for human rights, equity of persons and rule of law. We will rekindle hope in our people to believe in themselves for now and in the future.
