Police in Katsina state has arrested a 36-year-old suspected member of a bandit/kidnap group, terrorising various communities within Zamfara and Katsina states.

The police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah confirmed this in a press statement, adding that ” in the course of an investigation, the suspect confessed to have killed at least seven of his victims in various attacks carried out by his syndicate in various communities within Zamfara and Katsina state”.

He said, “On 04/06/2019 at about 16:39hrs, based on a tip-off, Operation Puff Adder led by DPO Batsari succeeded in arresting one Musa Isuhu, ‘m’, aged 36yrs of Dumburun bandits camp, Zurmi LGA of Zamfara state, a member of notorious armed bandits belonging to one ‘DANGOTE.”

The police spokesman equally confirmed the arrest of three suspected collaborators/aiders supplying food items to bandits in the forest, all of Dumburun village of Zurmi LGA of Zamfara state.

“They were arrested in Rugu forest of Safana LGA of Katsina state with a motor vehicle Toyota pickup with reg. No. RS 979 NSZ loaded with food items and cartons of assorted drinks.

“On 06/06/2019 at about 12:55hrs, based on a tip-off, ‘Operation Puff Adder’ led by DPO Batsari succeeded in arresting 1. Hamisu Yusuf, m, aged 35yrs, 2. Mubarak Sani 30yrs and 3. Habibu Yakubu, m, aged 50yrs all of Dumburun village, Zurmi LGA of Zamfara state, in Rugu forest with a motor vehicle Toyota pickup with reg. No. RS 979 NSZ loaded with food items and cartons of assorted drinks.

“A total of Sixty eight cartons of assorted soft drinks, forty-three tubers of Yam and one bag of animal feed were recovered in the vehicle”.

he added that investigations are ongoing and the suspects have confessed to the allegations.

“An investigation is ongoing, the suspects confessed to conveying the said items to Dumburun village of Zurmi LGA of Zamfara state, a deserted village mostly inhabited by suspected bandits.”
