The Katsina state government has granted one week within a year for residents to open bank accounts in the state.
This follows a request by the state branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which targets 20% rise in bank account opening by the year 2020.
Governor Aminu Masari on Thursday granted the request when he received Members of the state steering committee on National Financial Inclusion Strategy who paid him a courtesy visit at his office.

He assured the committee that he will do whatever it takes to bring as many people as possible into the financial inclusion strategy.
He decried the submission of the CBN that 60% of people in the North West are left behind in the financial inclusion strategy as against their counterparts in the South West with Lagos constituting 19%.
