The Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole has said that its efforts in conjunction with those of other security agencies in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency in the Northeast are sometimes jeopardised.

According to a statement by its spokesman, Colonel Ado Isa, the Theatre Command said the jeopardizing of its efforts is evident in some business activities which are unsuspectedly conducted by some businessmen in active connivance with the Boko Haram Terrorists(BHTs)/Islamic State West Africa Province(ISWAP) group to replenish their daily logistics supplies.

Colonel Isa said intelligence gathered revealed that, due to the intensity of the ongoing aggressive clearance operations within the theatre, the terrorists now resort in contracting some business collaborators who supply them with various items ranging from foodstuff, drugs, fuel, chemicals, electrical materials as well as vehicular spare parts to reinforce their logistics base as they could not dare to come out and roam freely and shop.

Consequently, the Theatre Command resolved that with effect from Thursday, 20 June 2019, the Command will place a ban on the sale of all petroleum products in Jerrycans throughout the theatre.

The Command also warned that no persons should indulge in illicit trade and other unlawful businesses with members of the terrorist groups.

Colonel Isa said the Command will monitor and fully enforce the embargo to deny the terrorists freedom of action and any source of supply within the theatre.

“Anyone caught in this act will face the full wrath of the law, ” Colonel Isa said.
