The Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State has threatened to throw out the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate Jeremiah Useni if the petitioners fail to sit up.

The chairman of the tribunal, Justice Halimat Saleeman issued the warning following the failure of the petitioners to present additional witnesses as arranged, describing the action as unwarranted and time wasting.

The lead counsel to the petitioner, Mike Ezeokome, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) applied to tender additional documents which are result sheets and voters register of polling units for Jos East, Qua’an Pan, Shendam and Mangu Local Government Areas.

But counsels to the respondents opposed the admissibility of the documents arguing that they are not certified true copies as the law requires.

The tribunal in its ruling however, accepted the documents in evidence.

At the end of the session counsel to the petitioner and the defendant, Governor Simon Lalong spoke on the arguments at the tribunal.
