Comments By Frank Okiye Are Figments Of His Imaginations, Says Oshiomhole

APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Adams Oshiomhiole has described comments by Honourable Frank Okiye as untrue and a figment of the lawmaker’s imagination.

In a swift reaction to the comments by the speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the National Assembly lawmakers have the duty to intervene on issues such as the “gestapo manner” of which the Edo assembly was inaugurated.

Oshiomhole stated this in a communique on Wednesday, shortly after the House of Representatives took a decision in Abuja asking the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, to shut down the Edo State House of Assembly.

The Lower Chamber’s request followed the adoption of a report of the House ad-hoc committee set up to investigate the crisis rocking the state Assembly on Wednesday.

However, Frank Okiye rejected the move by the House of Representatives to shut down the Edo State House of Assembly.

Okiye said a competent court had already retained the security agencies from taking such an action. He insisted that the rule of law was prevailing in the State Assembly.

He further stated that the recommendation of the Reps Ad-Hoc committee does not come to him as a surprise.

“For example, the chattered plane marked 5N FCT, which brought the committee members to Benin City, was paid for by the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who is a major party in the disagreement.

Also, the younger brother to the National Chairman, Seid Oshiomhole, in a recent leaked audio conversation, revealed the underhand dealings in Abuja regarding the matter,” Okiye said.

Reacting to Okiye’s comments, Oshiomhole in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Simon Ebegbulem, the APC chairman explained that this will not be the first time the national assembly will be intervening in matters of this nature and that the speaker should desist from making frivolous allegations.

He maintained that no amount of blackmail and threat from lawmakers can smear mister oshiomhole’s name.
