The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Diaspora Affairs, Abike Dabiri on Monday expressed hope towards an end to the killings of Nigerians in South Africa.
She said the issue of xenophobia and the bilateral relationship between both countries will be discussed by both President Buhari’s and President Cyril Ramaphosa during the visit.
Dabiri disclosed this in an interview on Channels Television programme, Lunch Time Politics.

“When the President visit South Africa in October one of the things that will happen is that Nigeria and South Africa will officially commission the bi-lateral commission between both countries.
“Of course the issue of xenophobic attacks and the killings of Nigerians will definitely be on the front burner,” she said
She recalled that the President of South Africa during his recent visit to Nigeria assured President Buhari that Nigerians were not the target and that the crime rate in his country is high.
Dabiri added that Ramaphosa during the visit promised that efforts are ongoing to ensure that South Africa is safe for everyone.
She added that although South Africa has taken steps to contain the attacks, “One of the things Nigerians are now asking of is the outcome of investigations.
“We need to see the political will, assuring us that we are not being targeted.
“Africans, we are brothers. It’s actually shameful that at this stage of our lives we are talking about Africans killing Africans,” she added.
The relationship between Nigerian and South Africa has been debated widely, especially concerning the Xenophobia attacks in the country.
The special adviser to President Buhari has however assured that both the Nigerian leader and the South African leader will discuss building and developing Africa to be one of the best continents, come October.
