The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, on his victory at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

In a statement on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, the party described the affirmation of the governor’s election as “well-deserved”.

It, however, rejected the judgments of the Governorship Election Tribunals which affirmed the victories of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau States.

The PDP urged its members and supporters not to lose hope, saying the Tribunal was not the end of the road.

It added that justice would “surely prevail at the end of the day”.

Reacting to the judgement of the Tribunal in Sokoto, the party described the verdict as a victory for democracy and the inevitable triumph of the will of the people.

It stated that the people stood their ground in the March 23 governorship election, despite attempts by “forces that sought to foist themselves” on the state.

The PDP believes Governor Tambuwal’s victory at the election was a clear endorsement of his leadership style as evinced in his commitment towards the development of the state and the empowerment of the people.

“Indeed, Governor Tambuwal’s achievements in developing the state and empowering the people in all critical sectors of life stood him out in his first term.

“His re-election, therefore, marks the determination of the people to consolidate on good governance in their state,” the party said.
