Three people have been killed and six others injured after farmers and herdsmen clashed in Jigawa State, north-west Nigeria.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bala Zama, confirmed this to reporters on Tuesday in his office at the Police Command Headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.
According to him, the three persons were killed in separate clashes in Guri, Kirikasamma and Kiyawa Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr Zama added that scores of policemen were deployed in Birniwa LGA where there was also tension.
He explained that the command got information that some herders trooped into the town at harvest time.
The police commissioner gave assurance that the command was committed to the security of the lives and property of the residents of the state.
