The second phase of the national handball league has been so competitive and that confirms why the fight for the title is going down the wire.
In a matchday 11 fixture, Edo Dynamos comfortably defeated relegation bound Abia Valiants 41-19 to jointly top the league table with 30 points alongside Safety Babe. But they are still second with a lesser goal difference.
Meanwhile, Safety Babes faltered as they lost to Imo Grasshoppers 30-25. The result put a dent to their position as they now have the same point with Edo Dynamos though they still top the league with a superior goal difference.
In other results in the female category, Seasider Babes defeated Defender Babes 35-25 while Desert Queens defeated bottom-placed Owena Queens 23-15.
Plateau Peacocks really left it late to beat Kada Queens 24-23 while Ghana Police inflicted another defeat on Abia Valiants with a 32-24 victory.
In the men’s category, Kano Pillars are one match away to be crowned league champion after defeating Plateau Vipers 31-22 while defending champions, Niger United are not giving up yet on the league title as they were victorious 40-28 over Borno Spiders.
As expected, COAS Shooters defeated Prison Key Boys 43-35 while Kada Stars saw off Sokoto Rima 32-28. Lagos Seasiders defeated Owena Kings 37-26 while De Defenders lost out to Safety Shooters 30-24.
Atabo Abdullahi of Safety Shooters and Ogechi Lampert of Safety Queens have voted the Most Valuable Players for matchday 11.
