Civil Societies Protest, Reject Privatisation Of Edo Specialist Hospital

Civil groups in Edo State have staged a protest against the alleged privatisation of the Specialist Hospital by the state government.

The protesters, under the aegis of Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOCSO), stormed the facility on Tuesday to reject the purported action of the government.

They had stated a similar demonstration on Friday last week and threatened to empty the facility of patients and staff should there be any on the ground on their arrival today.

Dozens of protesters participated in the demonstration which took place at the Edo State Specialist Hospital located on Sapele Road in Benin City, the state capital.

The state government has since denied the allegation of privatising the hospital as claimed by the protesters.
