Update: Death Toll From Kaduna Gas Plant Explosion Rises to Six

The death toll from Saturday’s gas plant explosion in Sabon Tasha area of Chikun local government area of Kaduna state has risen to six.

The state deputy governor, Hadiza Balarabe confirmed this when she visited the scene of the incident on Sunday.

The deputy governor, who was accompanied by some top government officials, also visited some of the injured victims at the hospital as well as the deceased families, where she sympathized with them over the unfortunate incident.

She also announced that the state government will henceforth regulate the activities of illegal gas retailers in the state capital and environs in order to forestall such an incident.

According to her, no unauthorized gas retail outlet will be allowed to operate within residential or unapproved areas.

On Saturday, the death toll was three, a professor and two others who eyewitnesses said, burnt beyond recognition.
