Okowa Asks Army To Probe Delta Attack That Killed Eight Persons
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has asked the Nigerian Army to investigate the involvement of military personnel in an attack that claimed eight lives in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, the governor condemned the attack after suspected armed herders unleashed mayhem on Agadama, Ohoror and other communities in Uwheru.
While urging for calm, Okowa called on the Commissioner of Police and the Brigade Commander, 63 brigade of the Nigerian Army, Asaba to bring the culprits to justice.
“I have directed the commissioner of police and the Brigade Commander, 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, to rise to the occasion and bring the culprits to justice.
“The unwarranted attacks and killing of innocent locals in Avwon, Agadama and Ohoror communities of Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area and the wickedness of suspected criminal herdsmen alleged to be aided and abetted by unidentified military personnel are mindless,” the statement read in part.
