Atiku Condemns Attack On Adamawa Community

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar has condemned the attack on Garkida community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar has condemned the attack on Garkida community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

He took to Twitter where he lamented over the spate of attacks and also commiserated with the affected families.

“The attack by Boko Haram against lives & properties of innocent Nigerians is unbecoming,” he wrote on Saturday.

“My prayers are with the people of Garkida in my home state of Adamawa over the cowardly attack that happened over the weekend. May God give the affected families fortitude to bear the loss”.

The attack which occurred on Friday is the latest in a series of attacks in the state and in the northeast by Boko Haram insurgents.

According to some local sources, on arriving at the community, the insurgents began to shoot sporadically as they exchanged fire with security operatives and local vigilante officials on the ground.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the attack to Channels Television, disclosed that on hearing the news, policemen and other security personnel were immediately drafted to Gombi town and its environs, to prevent the insurgents from gaining access to the town.
