The former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has spoken after he was dethroned by the Kano State government.

In a video that went viral, Sanusi said he has accepted his dethronement in good fate and described it as the will of God.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), who spoke in Hausa language, noted that his removal was best for him, according to God’s plan.

He insisted that there was no reason to be sad over his removal and urged the people to be appreciative and believe in God’s decision.

The former emir said:

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. May peace and blessings of God be on his messenger, Muhammad, the son of Abdullah.

All glory be to God for the favours he bestowed on us. Part of those favours was my enthronement as Emir of Kano on the 8th of June 2014.

I am grateful to God for sustaining me in good health for nearly six years on the throne of my forefathers.

Today, the only power that gaveth authority has taken it away from me. As I use to say, power has a life span.

Days on any throne are numbered, once your time is off you have to leave whether you like it or not.

I have, therefore, accepted this destiny in good faith. I am grateful and happy for God knows what is best for me.

I am also grateful to the good people of Kano State for their love and obedience to me and all those who assisted me in my rulership.

I must also thank my kinsmen who stood by me through thick and thin. I urge you people to remain calm and peaceful.

I have also instructed my immediate family and those under me to pledge allegiance and respect whoever succeeds me for the integrity of the Kano throne.

What Allah has destined is right. Do not be angry.
