The Lagos State Government has relocated 100 displaced persons affected by a gas explosion in Abule Ado, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, 468 people were displaced from their homes following the tragic incident.

He explained that the decision to relocate the victims is to ensure their adequate welfare, stressing that some persons were still missing.

“468 people were displaced from their homes and 100 of them are now in the relief camp. Two missing.

“Our help desk remains manned and our personnel are available to manage enquiries and arrange transfer to the LASEMA relief camp for those who have need of shelter and food,” he said.

Oke-Osanyintolu revealed that an additional dead body was recovered from the rubbles, increasing the death toll from the scene to 21.

He also called for calm by members of the public, urging them to keep away from the scene as they continue to provide updates.
