COVID-19: Ogun Begins Fumigation Of Environment

 

The Ogun State Government has commenced the disinfection of markets, schools across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state as precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi who led the flag off exercise, Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasised the need for cooperation and understanding in the face of the global pandemic threatening the very existence of humanity.

“The chemicals we are using are environment-friendly and the World Health Organisation compliant. So, it is safe for human and the environment.

“The governor gas given us the mandate. So, this exercise is expected to be replicated in all the twenty local government areas of the state and the three senatorial districts of the state

“I want to appeal to our people for their cooperation and understanding. They should extend their hand of cooperation, especially in the area of water because what we use is mainly water with little chemicals.

“You all know that we have the challenge of water, their cooperation in this regard will go a long way in ensuring the success of the programme,” he said.

With the current six COVID-19 cases in the state, the government is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to contain the spread of the virus.

Men and officers of the Ministry of Environment in conjunction with the Federal Fire Service carried out the exercise in Abeokuta, the state capital.
