The Katsina State Government has drilled no fewer than 2,000 boreholes across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Aminu Masari disclosed this on Thursday in Ajiwa town of Batagarawa Local Government Area of the state.

The governor also lamented that many of the communities in the state have been facing a lack of potable water supply, reiterating his administration’s commitment to supply more boreholes.

He revealed that the state government has planned the rehabilitation of Ajiwa Dam into two stages.

Governor Masari believes that “investment in water and health are very heavy and these are not investments which people readily see.”

“Everything you see here is cast and build, you can’t buy it in the shop. So we have to design and take it to manufacturers and they will take their time, you will follow the queue before they finish and supply to you.

“Otherwise is not an ordinary generating set or pumping set, if you see the capacity of the new pumps and the third one is coming, these were the pumps which were installed in 1974. We have brought an old version of the same pumps from the same manufacturer from the same company and we are changing the entire electrical system in the pump floor.

“Everything here will be new before the end of the year and then we start the second stage, that is raising the height of the dam to store more water and additional clarifier to treat more water in order to meet the needs of communities living around this area,” he said.
