Edo APC Governorship Candidate, Ize-Iyamu Launches Campaign Manifesto

APC Edo State governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, launches his campaign manifesto in Benin City on July 14, 2020.

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming Edo State governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has officially launched his campaign manifesto.

Ize-Iyamu unveiled the 50-page document entitled ‘The Simple Agenda’ on Monday at his campaign office in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

He described the document as a covenant with the people of the state which can be used to access his performance if given the opportunity to serve as governor of the state.

The APC candidate who described his agenda as specific, measurable, accurate, reliable, and time-bound, said SIMPLE was an acronym for a detailed programme he has for Edo.

According to him, SIMPLE stands for Security and Social Welfare, Infrastructural Development and Urban Renewal, Manpower Development, Public-Private Partnership, Leadership by Example, as well as Employment and Empowerment Scheme.

Ize-Iyamu stressed the need to improve the security architecture of the state, saying that was the only condition to move Edo forward.

He added that infrastructural development and urban renewal were not limited to the construction of roads, but also included electrification.

“The education of our people is a priority, not only our children but even our adults … the mistake we have made in Edo is to ignore completely the private sector,” the APC candidate said.

He decried that the private sector in the state has almost gone into extinction because it was ignored, insisting that no government or society could survive without the private sector.

Ize-Iyamu also believes Edo needs the kind of leadership that the people can trust, and must be assessable, accountable, transparent, humane, sincere, and focused.

He added, “We cannot leave things the way they are and I am sure many of you know that there is a serious co-relationship between unemployment and crime; so government must look for how to create jobs.”
