The process to decide who becomes the flagbearer for the Peoples Democratic Party in the October governorship election in Ondo State is still underway as sorting and counting of votes have commenced.
Eight aspirants are vying for the PDP ticket, including the Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
Speaking at the venue of the primary in Akure, the state capital on Wednesday, the Chairman of the PDP Governorship Primary Election Committee, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, said he is optimistic that the election will be seamless, and the outcome would be acceptable to everyone.

He also assured the people of the state that the committee would adhere strictly to the electoral guidelines for the conduct of a free, fair and credible election.
The governor also gave an assurance that the election will be conducted in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
