Hoodlums suspected to be Armed bandits have kidnapped a 13-year-old girl and injured a 30-year-old man in Katsina State, northwest Nigeria.

The attack took place on Sunday at about 9:30 pm in Kurfi area of the state.

The victim identified as Kadijat Muttaqa was kidnapped by the bandits inside her father’s residence while the 30-year-old man identified as Ibrahim Yar_Garshe was shot on his leg in the process.

Some indigenes of the area told Channels Television that the hoodlums had earlier before launching the attack camouflaged with residents in the town.

An eyewitness explained that the bandits came behind one of the mountains to the town, shooting sporadically and abducted the girl whose father is a doctor.

A visit to Kurfi town, this morning showed no signs of attack only two policemen were seen busy patrolling around the checkpoint.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer SP Gambo Isah confirmed the incident to Channels Television on a phone call, he said the attack took place at about 9:30 pm.

He said the injured victim is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

According to Isah, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Buba has directed Operations Puff Adder and Sharan_Daji led by DPO Dutsinma to rescue the kidnap victim, noting that efforts are on top gear.
