The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have vowed to root out banditry and agric related thefts in Niger State and other states across the federation by training one hundred thousand more agro rangers that will be deployed to various communities across the country.

The Commandant General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu made the commitment during the handing over of fifty hectares of land by the Niger State government for the establishment of the Corps’ training institute in Kontagora local government area.

He said the men that will be trained will also give physical support to farmers and will help guarantee agro-allied investment in the country.

He said a similar training was held in Katsuna state which has seen a drop in cases of kidnapping of farmers in the state.

The NSCDC boss commended the Niger State government for the land donation and other forms of support being accorded to the corps, especially under the current administration.

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello said the government is exploring all avenues to curtail the surge in banditry and terrorist attacks in some parts of the State, hence the need for such partnerships with security agencies.

He reaffirmed the commitment of his government to bring to an end the nefarious activities of bandits and terrorists.

The facilities provided by the State government for the take-off of the NSCDC training centre include nine units three-bedroom bungalows, one (1) White House consisting of 5-bedrooms, block of six boys quarters, one accountable Hall, Parade Ground, and a gateman.
