The Taraba state government has cancelled the 2019/2020 third term for primary and secondary schools.
The State Commissioner of Education, Johannes Jigim, disclosed this to journalists after a stakeholder meeting in Jalingo.
He announced that primary and secondary schools will resume on September 21, although he noted the third term academic calendar has been scrapped for the 2019/2020 academic session.
The commissioner however directed school proprietors not to collect any money as fees for the third term because students were not in school during the period.
“All school proprietors are warned to adhere strictly to the NCDC safety measures as monitoring teams will be inaugurated to check breach of measures.
This is coming six months after schools in the state were shut down in an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
