As part of safety measures for the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, has said that there will be strict enforcement of the wearing of face masks, washing of hands, and use of sanitizers.

“There’ll also be strict compliance with the social distancing protocol”.

In a Circular dated Sept 28, 2020, and titled, ‘High Courts/Magistrate Courts in Lagos Full Resumption of Duties’, Justice Alogba also said: “that everyone coming into a courtroom must fill the attendance register, for ease of contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID-19 case”.

“All suspects brought to court from the police stations and correctional centres must be masked, otherwise they will be refused entry onto the court premises.

“Only counsel, parties and witnesses will be allowed into the courtrooms in turns.

“There will be attendance register for everyone coming into the courtrooms, for easy contact tracing, should remedial measures be necessary.”

Following the conclusion of the annual vacations, the courts in the state have resumed for the 2020/2021 new legal year.

They kickstarted the new legal year with special thanksgiving services last week Monday, the 21st of Sept.
