Zamfara State Governor,  Bello Matawalle has expressed his profound appreciation to the entire people of Bakura Local Government Area and other stakeholders for a peaceful conclusion of the state Legislature bye-election held last Wednesday by INEC.

Governor Matawalle said the duty of every responsible administration was to ensure peaceful coexistence in the society, the main reason why he was bitter with the events leading to the death of two innocent persons before the last Saturday’s round of the Bakura elections.

“However, with the measures taken by security operatives, both elections last Saturday and Wednesday were held without further bloodshed. I wish to commend the people of Bakura, the security operatives and especially our supporters for a peaceful conduct of both the elections”, Matawalle added.

He noted that the elections were earlier earmarked by the opposition to be used as a platform to create hatred against the Government, but for the maturity of his administration and the resilience of PDP supporters and indeed, the people of Bakura in general, the plot failed.

“Finally, the truth has prevailed. The people have spoken. The people of Bakura and indeed, the entire people of Zamfara state have shown the World that we have earned their precious confidence”.

“I wish to thank the people of Bakura and the entire citizens of Zamfara state for once again, endorsing their confidence in our administration and our Party, the PDP. This will further give us the confidence to do more for the security of lives and property and the prosperity of our citizens. It is a great indication that we are indeed, getting it right”, Matawalle added.

“However, I will use this opportunity to extend a word of caution to those who will again take this administration for granted that we are not going to compromise on the peace, and we shall do everything possible to ensure this as a responsible Government” Matawalle warned.
