The Kogi State Government has declared Friday 11th December 2020 as a work-free day to enable Civil Servants to travel to their towns and villages for December 12, 2020, Local Government election in the State.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo says the directive was given to enable civil servants to exercise their right to vote and participate in the political determination of how their Local Government Areas are governed.

This is a further confirmation of the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration to deepening democratic practice and tenets.

The State Government has already charged the State Independent Electoral Commission to ensure free, fair, and credible poll. Security agencies have also been urged to ensure strict adherence to constitutionalism, before, during, and after the election.

“To us as a Government, the franchise is a festival of freedom. Let us all come out en masse to determine those who will govern our grassroots Government for the next three years”.
