A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded the dismissed Police Inspector, Oba Christian, who allegedly killed a tricycle driver, Edmond Ikechukwu, on December 10 at Rukpokwu axis of Obi/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State at the maximum correctional centre in the state capital.
The dismissed inspector was remanded on Monday after Chief Magistrate A.O.Amadi-Nna declined to entertain the matter sitting lack of jurisdiction shortly his arraignment in court by the police in the state.
Chief Magistrate Amadi-Nna also advised that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the matter to February 25, 2021.

The charge sheet sighted by Channels Television today showed that the dismissed policeman was arraigned for killing Ikechukwu by firing him on the left side of his jaw with AK-47 riffle to death and thereby committed an offense punishable under Section 319(1) of the criminal code, Cap 37, Vol 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.
