The Federal Government of Nigeria has donated over a thousand bags of rice worth millions of naira to Cross River residents across the 196 wards in the state to cushion the effect of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital, the Coordinator for the distribution under the Ministry of Niger Delta Development Commission, Orok Duke disclosed that both the young, the aged including the physically challenged were all beneficiaries of the gesture.

He emphasised that a need for an even distribution of the item is a priority as everyone is entitled to it.

Residents in cross river state, south Nigeria in their numbers assembled at various locations in the state to partake in the distribution of rice, donated by the federal government to caution hunger challenge in the phase of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the coordinator for the distribution, Orok Duke, everyone will be reached through the ward and group leaders to ensure an even distribution across the state no matter the quantity given to them.
