The Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku has called on residents of the state and Nigerians to be united in tackling the myriads of security challenges facing the country.

He made this on Sunday via a statement issued by his spokesman, Bala Dan Abu, to commemorate the 2021 Easter celebration.

While expressing happiness that peace has gradually returned to the troubled spots and communities in Taraba State, Governor Ishaku assured that everything will be done to ensure that the achievement is sustained.

The governor pleaded with the people of the state regardless of all ethnic backgrounds, religious faiths and political affiliations to forget their differences and to work together in the interest of peace and development.

“He called for unity and vigilance against insecurity. He said the government was working hard with security agencies to end kidnappings and killings of innocent people by criminals and solicited for the support of all men and women of goodwill towards the success of these efforts,” the statement partly read.

“Ishaku wished Christians happy Easter celebrations but also reminded them to take the COVID-19 vaccination which is now available in the state and to continue to observe all protocols against the spread of the pandemic.”

Ishaku noted that his administration is working tirelessly in collaboration with security agencies in a bid to end kidnappings and senseless killing of law-abiding citizens by hoodlums who he said were bent on causing disaffection and mayhem on residents.

He also solicited for more support from the residents to nip the nefarious acts in the bud, urging them not to lower their guards in adhering to the safety measures of the COVID-19 pandemic.
