CAF Confed. Cup: Enyimba, Rivers United To Face North African Foes

Two-time African champions, Enyimba and their Nigerian counterpart, Rivers United have been drawn against Al Ittihad of Libya and Egyptian side Al Masry respectively in the play-off of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Two-time African champions, Enyimba and their Nigerian counterpart, Rivers United have been drawn against Al Ittihad of Libya and Egyptian side Al Masry respectively in the play-off of the CAF Confederations Cup.

“We’ve been paired against Libyan side Al Ittihad for the playoff round of the #CAFCC,” Enyimba said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

“The 1st leg will be played at the home of the Libyan side, while we’ll host the return fixture on the 1st weekend in December.”

Enyimba reached the play-off after beating Senegalese team Dimbars 4-0 on aggregate while Rivers United dropped to Africa’s second-tier competition following their elimination from the CAF Champions League. The Pride of Rivers lost 2-1 on aggregate to Al-Hilal of Sudan.

The first-leg games will take place on November 28 and the second leg is scheduled for December 5. Winners will advance to the group stage of the tournament.
