After spending eight days in captivity, abducted travellers along Jamptari-Gayam Express road in Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State, have regained their freedom.

The victims were said to be released in the early hours of Wednesday, although it is not clear if any ransom was paid.

He identified the family members as Emmanuel Kataps, David Kataps, Esabella Kataps, Esther Geoffrey, Rita David and Bala Magaji.

“On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, My family was attacked on their way to Jalingo. My wife and other members of the family were lucky to escape,” the statement read.

“I requested for fervent prayers from friends and loved ones since Prayers remain the best weapon to freedom. Today, 12 January 2022, at about 3am, after eight agonising and traumatic days in captivity.

I solicit your prayers and understanding in this regard.”
