Eight persons have died following an accident involving an 18-seater Toyota bus along Iware-Wukari Expressway in Taraba State.
Confirming the incident to channels television via a telephone interview, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, said the accident was caused by a tyre burst which led to the driver losing control and somersaulting.
According to him, seven passengers died at the spot. The other person passed on while being conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, for medical attention.

He, however, disclosed that nine other passengers survived with various degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at the moment.
The vehicle, according to him, left Jalingo en route to Lokpanta in Enugu State before the unfortunate incident.
He stated that a thorough investigation will be carried out to unfold more facts about the accident.
