International Women’s Day: Army Officers’ Wives Demand Gender Equality

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to marks International Women's Day, wives of military officers under the umbrella of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association(NAOWA) have lent their voices to the ongoing agitation for gender Equality and inclusion of more women in governance with the aim of breaking all barriers and discrimination against women.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to marks International Women’s Day, wives of military officers under the umbrella of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association(NAOWA) have lent their voices to the ongoing agitation for gender equality and inclusion of more women in governance with the aim of breaking all barriers and discrimination against women.

Speaking at a symposium organised to mark the International Women’s Day at the Infantry Corps Jaji Kaduna State, the convener of the event and coordinator, Nigerian Army officers Wives Association,  Jaji, Mrs Appolonia Ezugwu stressed that the call for Equality for women is not a competition against men but rather advocacy for a fair and just society.

On his part, the Commander Infantry Corps,  Major General Victor Ezugwu, encouraged men to place premium priority on women’s development so as to harness her numerous potentials for the collective good of the society.

In her remarks, the guest speaker, Major Esther Yakubu said that gender balancing will harness the inherent potentials in the women gender,  instead of limiting them at a certain level in the family and the society.
