Mahdi Gusau urged the delegates, party leaders, and his supporters to vote for Dr. Lawal Dauda to emerge as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Zamfara State.

No reason was given for the decision. Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau was impeached as Zamfara State Deputy Governor in February this year.
