Veteran actress and star of Fuji House of Commotion, Sola Onayiga, has died.
She died in the early hours of Monday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where she had been rushed to, and admitted, two weeks ago.
The veteran actress first received medical attention in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for a few days before being moved to the regular ward.
A family friend and film critic Shaibu Husseini confirmed the sad news in an Instagram post.
“I have just been informed that the accomplished Stage and Screen Actress and Fellow of Theatre Arts Auntie Sola Awojobi Onayiga has passed on,” he wrote in a post which had a photo of the actress.
“Journey well, Ma! Journey Well!”
Onayiga, who battled with sickle cell anaemia all her life, starred as Ireti Fuji in the popular sitcom ‘Çheckmate’ and its spinoff series ‘Fuji House of Commotion’.
