Motorists were stranded for hours on Sunday as a trailer blocked the Kara Bridge axis of the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The situation caused a serious gridlock for commuters outbound and inbound, inconveniencing many.
An eyewitness told Channels Television that the gridlock was caused by a dispute between law enforcement officials and a trailer driver who blocked the outbound lane from Lagos in solidarity with his colleague whose vehicle is alleged to have been damaged after being chased by the security operatives.

As a result of the heavy traffic, motorists travelling out of the nation’s commercial capital are forced to pass under the Kara bridge as an alternative to joining the inbound lane to Lagos thereby causing more gridlock for those coming into the state.
As of the time of filing this report, no traffic official was seen to clear up the gridlock although they were police operatives in the area.
Meanwhile, the expressway is free of traffic just before the Opic bus stop. This is even as motorists and commuters are advised to use alternative routes or avoid the area entirely.
